Activate your beta key

You need three things from the invite mail: the installer for your OS, a key that starts with TMN-B, and this page if something blocks the first launch.

Install the app

Use the download link in your mail. Builds in this beta are not code signed. The OS will warn. That is expected, not a virus scan result.

macOS (Gatekeeper)

Open the .dmg and drag Timon into Applications.
In Finder, open Applications, then Control-click Timon and choose Open. Confirm Open in the dialog. A double-click is not enough the first time.
If macOS still refuses: System Settings, Privacy & Security, scroll to the message about Timon, then Open Anyway.
Last resort, in Terminal:

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Timon.app
```
Then open Timon from Applications again.

Windows (SmartScreen)

Run the .exe installer.
If Windows protected your PC appears: More info, then Run anyway.
If the file stays blocked: right-click the installer, Properties, Unblock, Apply, then run it again.

Linux

Make the AppImage executable and run it:

chmod +x Timon-*.AppImage
./Timon-*.AppImage

Some desktops also want a right-click, Properties, Allow running as a program.

Paste the key

Once Timon is open, go to /activate in the app. Paste the full key (it looks like TMN-BXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) and confirm. Pick a device name you will recognise later, for example "studio MacBook". That name is stored as you typed it.

From a terminal, with the daemon already running:

timon license activate TMN-BXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

Modules that your plan includes light up without a restart. Keep the key private. It is shown in the invite once.

If activation fails

Common blocks, and what to do
What you see	Meaning	What to do
macOS says the app is damaged, or it cannot be opened	Gatekeeper on an unsigned build	Follow the macOS steps above, then retry activation.
Windows protected your PC	SmartScreen on an unsigned installer	More info, Run anyway.
Unknown key, or the key is rejected	Typo, extra space, or a key that was never issued	Copy the whole `TMN-B…` string again. Do not type it by hand.
Revoked	This key was cut on the server	Reply to the invite mail if that was not expected.
Expired	The beta window on this key has ended	Ask for an extension in the same thread.
Seat limit	This key is already active on the allowed number of devices (two in the beta)	Deactivate a device you no longer use, then retry. In the app follow the prompt, or run `timon license deactivate` on that machine.
Too many attempts	Rate limit	Wait a minute, then try once more.
Cannot reach the license server	No network, or the host is down	Retry when you are online. After a successful activation, Timon keeps working offline for 24 hours in this beta.

Still stuck, or found a bug

Reply to the invite mail. Include your OS, Timon version (from the about screen or timon --version), the device name you chose, and what you already tried. Do not paste the key in a public tracker.
